Playa Blanca
Once
a little fishing village at the South-western coast of the island, Playa Blanca
has been developing during the past few years into one of the great tourist resorts,
still being lower in size than Puerto
del Carmen and Costa Teguise.
A modern tourist resort has successfully been created, yet preserving the traditional
character of the village. Especially to mention is the very beautiful promenade
along the coast with its little beaches.
You will find the most modern hotels with all modern conveniences
here. There are also many lovingly cared for and privately
managed holiday apartments, some of them exclusively furnished, which can
be booked here.
Innumerable
restaurants, bars and supermarkets are waiting for your visit. See: http://www.publilanza.com/ Not
far away from the old fishermen's village, is the famous 'Punta de Papagayo' with
its beautiful beaches of white sand in some still secluded bays. They are easily
to be reached by a levelled out road; to use it you have to pay a toll of 3 Euros
per day and car. Attention! Some car
rentals forbid the use of their vehicles on dirt roads.
A visit of the neighbour Island of Fuerteventura
constitutes a beautiful excursion. Alone the passage with one of the ferries is
a nice experience. They leave daily at certain times from the port of Playa Blanca
and take about 40 minutes to get there.
